[\\[10\\]](#cite-id-zvfsjswko2) \n\n## Overview\n\nSunrise is an asset gateway for bringing tokens and other blockchain-based assets from different networks to Solana. Incubated by Wormhole Labs and built on Wormhole’s cross-chain infrastructure, it coordinates the creation of a canonical Solana-native version of an asset, liquidity provision, and distribution across the Solana ecosystem. Sunrise is distinct from a bridge, market maker, or launchpad; instead, it combines functions associated with these components to establish a tradable market for an asset when it becomes available on Solana. Its scope is intended to extend beyond crypto tokens to include tokenized stocks, commodities, and other real-world assets.\n\nSunrise launched in November 2025 with Monad’s MON token and has since supported integrating assets into Solana’s trading infrastructure. Assets listed through Sunrise are made available across Solana wallets, decentralized exchanges, aggregators, and other applications, including Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, Jupiter, Raydium, Orca, Meteora, and Kamino. The platform provides a canonical version of an asset on Solana, along with liquidity and ecosystem distribution, allowing assets originating on other networks to be accessed through Solana-based markets. Before this approach, assets brought to Solana through different bridges could exist as multiple wrapped versions, each with separate liquidity pools and metadata. This could fragment liquidity and make it difficult to determine which version represented the official asset. Sunrise coordinates with asset issuers, bridge partners, and the Solana ecosystem to establish one canonical mint with standardized metadata, including the asset’s name, symbol, icon, and decimal configuration. This concentrates liquidity around a single version while enabling wallets and trading platforms to identify and display the asset consistently. Sunrise provides canonical mint addresses for Sunrise-listed assets through its official token listings and listed-assets resources. The platform coordinates liquidity providers and market makers in advance so that pools are prepared before an asset arrives, allowing trading to begin across decentralized exchanges and aggregators when the listing goes live. This approach is intended to reduce fragmented or insufficient liquidity during the initial stages of a market and provide greater trading depth from launch. Sunrise does not execute trades or operate as a market maker itself. Instead, it coordinates the parties responsible for providing liquidity alongside creating canonical assets and distributing them across the Solana ecosystem. This coordination allows liquidity preparation to occur as part of the asset-listing process rather than being added after the market has already launched. [\\[7\\]](#cite-id-7bydfun9eq) \n\n### Infrastructure\n\nWormhole Labs incubates Sunrise and uses Wormhole’s cross-chain infrastructure, while allowing individual listings to use different bridging frameworks by asset. Assets with an existing multichain system, such as Wormhole NTT, LayerZero OFT, Chainlink CCIP, or custom infrastructure, can use their established systems for the Solana deployment. For assets without an existing multichain solution, Sunrise typically uses Wormhole’s Native Token Transfers (NTT) framework. Sunrise’s role extends beyond bridging to coordinating canonical asset recognition, liquidity, and distribution across Solana.\n\nFor NTT-based deployments, tokens retain their native properties across supported chains rather than being represented through bridge-specific wrapped assets. The security model for these deployments includes Wormhole’s Guardian network, configurable transfer rate limits, reconciliation through the Global Accountant, and automated anomaly detection. Assets using other bridging frameworks instead rely on those systems' security models. Tokenized real-world assets also remain subject to the regulatory and custody arrangements established by their issuers. [\\[8\\]](#cite-id-gnvco39dtn) \n\n### Backpack Securities\n\nSunrise partnered with Backpack Securities to support issuing tokenized equities on Solana. Backpack Securities uses regulated brokerage infrastructure to hold and trade securities, while Sunrise provides the onchain infrastructure to issue tokenized versions on Solana. Each tokenized security represents a corresponding share held in custody, and investors retain associated entitlements such as dividend eligibility and participation in corporate actions. The tokenized securities can be transferred across supported networks and used with compatible wallets and decentralized finance applications.\n\nThe system also supports two-way conversion between traditional securities and their tokenized representations. Securities held through Backpack can be converted into tokens and withdrawn to a Solana wallet, while tokenized securities can be deposited back and converted into traditional securities holdings. Backpack Securities also supports transfers of securities to and from other brokers through established settlement infrastructure. The phased rollout of tokenized securities began in June 2026, with the initial offerings launched on Solana through Sunrise.
