As a senior in the 2015–2016 school year, she formed one half of the school's Senior Public Forum debate team alongside Grace Shau. According to Speech and Debate Coach Charles Schletzbaum, the pair became the first Milpitas High School debate team to fully qualify for the Tournament of Champions (TOC) with two bids; an earlier team had qualified in 2014 but with only a single bid.[[4]](#cite-id-5ny29fltx3)\n\nThe team earned its first TOC bid at the James Logan Martin Luther King Invitational held January 14–17, 2016, where they reached quarterfinals, and its second at the Millard North Tournament in Nebraska on February 26–27, 2016, where they again advanced to quarterfinals. The two competed at the Tournament of Champions at the University of Kentucky on April 30 to May 1, 2016, finishing with a 3–4 record.
