Its 2025 program included three in-person events, while the 2026 edition featured a keynote on [stablecoins](https://iq.wiki/wiki/stablecoin), artificial intelligence (AI) agents, and [digital-asset](https://iq.wiki/wiki/digital-assets) regulation.[\\[1\\]](#cite-id-9i3wnxgezx)[\\[2\\]](#cite-id-mgijwehlli)\n\n## 2025 Program\n\nThe Seoul Fintech Week 2025 Conference took place on September 29, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Park Ballroom on the fifth floor of Conrad Seoul. Two events followed on October 1 at The Forum on the third floor of Two IFC: Open Talk, scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to noon, and the Seoul Digital Finance Future Forum, from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m.[\\[1\\]](#cite-id-9i3wnxgezx)\n\nAll three events were listed as being broadcast live, with an option to view them online.[\\[1\\]](#cite-id-9i3wnxgezx)\n\n## 2026 Edition\n\nSeoul Fintech Week 2026 was held at Conrad Seoul in Yeouido on October 26, 2026. \n\nKakao Pay chief executive Shin Won-keun delivered a keynote calling for faster regulatory preparation for [stablecoins](https://iq.wiki/wiki/stablecoin), [tokenization](https://iq.wiki/wiki/tokenization), [digital assets](https://iq.wiki/wiki/digital-assets), and financial services based on [AI agents](https://iq.wiki/wiki/ai-agents).[\\[2\\]](#cite-id-mgijwehlli)\n\n### AI Agents and Payments\n\nShin argued that [AI agents](https://iq.wiki/wiki/ai-agents) would need payment infrastructure, reliable systems, and clearer rules before they could participate in financial transactions. He presented [stablecoins](https://iq.wiki/wiki/stablecoin) as a possible way to handle small, frequent payments that can be costly over existing card or bank networks, including automated payments of a few won to several dozen won and cross-border transactions.[\\[2\\]](#cite-id-mgijwehlli)\n\nAs an example of agent-based payment, Shin cited [x402](https://iq.wiki/wiki/x402), a payment protocol led by [Coinbase](https://iq.wiki/wiki/coinbase). In the described model, an AI agent pays for a service in stablecoins, and the provider verifies payment before delivering information. Kakao Pay joined the [x402 Foundation](https://iq.wiki/wiki/x402-foundation), launched in April 2026, as its only founding member from South Korea and was cooperating on global payment standards.[\\[2\\]](#cite-id-mgijwehlli)\n\n### Stablecoin Projects and Regulation\n\nKakao Pay was conducting technology verification for a won-denominated [stablecoin](https://iq.wiki/wiki/stablecoin) business. In September 2026, it completed a proof of concept integrating blockchain-based asset-management functions into the Kakao Pay Money wallet, and tested stablecoin issuance, redemption, and overseas-payment technology with KB Kookmin Bank. Kakao Group was also expanding cooperation with the digital-asset companies [Circle](https://iq.wiki/wiki/circle) and [Fireblocks](https://iq.wiki/wiki/fireblocks).[\\[2\\]](#cite-id-mgijwehlli)\n\nShin said that South Korea’s [Digital Asset Basic Act](https://iq.wiki/wiki/digital-asset-basic-act) was needed to introduce a won-denominated stablecoin, but it remained pending in the National Assembly. Disagreement between financial authorities and the Bank of Korea over which institutions could issue such a [stablecoin](https://iq.wiki/wiki/stablecoin) left the timing of commercialization uncertain.[\\[2\\]](#cite-id-mgijwehlli)\n\nHe also called for security measures and a liability framework for AI-agent financial transactions, including safeguards against transactions exceeding a user’s authorization and clear responsibility for accidents. He advocated introducing regulations in stages according to agents’ roles and risk levels.[\\[2\\]](#cite-id-mgijwehlli)\n","categories":[{"id":"events","title":"events"}],"tags":[{"id":"Conference"}],"images":[{"id":"QmZFi2AiFcxhjcWDJSWF77dgcxQKJzc6bqs8nQ9Asb4FKP","type":"image/jpeg, image/png"}],"media":[],"metadata":[{"id":"references","value":"[{\"id\":\"9i3wnxgezx\",\"url\":\"https://seoulfintechweek.com/\",\"description\":\"Seoul Fintech Week 2025 program\",\"timestamp\":1793282067770},{\"id\":\"mgijwehlli\",\"url\":\"https://en.bloomingbit.io/feed/news/122916\",\"description\":\"Report on the 2026 keynote\",\"timestamp\":1793282067770}]"},{"id":"main-image-origin","value":"{\"imageId\":\"QmZFi2AiFcxhjcWDJSWF77dgcxQKJzc6bqs8nQ9Asb4FKP\",\"originalId\":\"QmZFi2AiFcxhjcWDJSWF77dgcxQKJzc6bqs8nQ9Asb4FKP\"}"},{"id":"website","value":"https://seoulfintechweek.com/"},{"id":"commit-message","value":"Create Seoul Fintech Week wiki"}],"events":[{"type":"MULTIDATE","title":"Seoul Fintech Week 2025","date":"2025-09-29","description":"The 2025 program included a conference on September 29 and events on October 1.","link":"https://seoulfintechweek.com/","multiDateStart":"2025-09-29","multiDateEnd":"2025-10-01","id":"f1e0bfb0-4908-4e4b-9b53-8330d7d6f122"},{"type":"DEFAULT","title":"Seoul Fintech Week 2026","date":"2026-10-26","description":"Held at Conrad Seoul in Yeouido, Seoul.
