Microsoft acquired the comparison-shopping company in 1999. His later business roles included chairman of StepUp Commerce, which Intuit acquired in 2006, and founder of IfOnly, which was subsequently acquired by Mastercard. The Senate confirmed him on March 22, 2018. He was appointed on March 29, assumed charge on May 18 and presented his credentials to Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen on May 24.
