Nakamigos collection, created in a style reminiscent of [CryptoPunks](https://iq.wiki/wiki/cryptopunks), got its name from the pseudonymous founder of [Bitcoin](https://iq.wiki/wiki/bitcoin), [Satoshi Nakamoto](https://iq.wiki/wiki/satoshi-nakamoto), symbolizing Nakamigos being the 'friends of Nakamoto'.[\\[2\\]](#cite-id-kfwkitw508r)[\\[5\\]](#cite-id-98bz0pd6hym)  \n  \n# Nakamigos x EoS  \n  \n[Sartoshi](https://iq.wiki/wiki/sartoshi), who was the creator of '[mfers](https://iq.wiki/wiki/mfers)' [NFT](https://iq.wiki/wiki/non-fungible-token-nft), left 'mfers' in June 2022, handed over project leadership and funds to the community. To mark his departure, Sartoshi [minted](https://iq.wiki/wiki/minting) the 'end of [sartoshi](https://iq.wiki/wiki/sartoshi) [eos]' pass collection. Initially, there was speculation that Sartoshi was the anonymous individual behind the Nakamigos creation, despite no confirmed involvement in the project. This rumor gained traction partly because Sartoshi's departure from [mfers](https://iq.wiki/wiki/mfers) happened around the same time as the Nakamigos collaboration, causing some to hastily label [Sartoshi](https://iq.wiki/wiki/sartoshi) as the project’s 'OG crypto artist,' though Sartoshi neither confirmed nor denied this.[\\[6\\]](#cite-id-2161y3cr6vz)  \n$$widget0 [YOUTUBE@VID](_g9tDDojTAg)$$  \n  \n# Tokenomics  \n  \nThe total and maximum token supply of NKMGS NFTs is 20,000, out of which all 20,000 are [minted](https://iq.wiki/wiki/minting) out. EoS pass holders received early access to the collection on March 22, 2023, and the public mint went live on March 23, 2023.[4]  \n  \n# Honorary Nakamigos  \n  \nThe Nakamigos team gifted 24 honorary Nakamigos NFTs to well-known figures and influencers in the NFT community, which include Richerd Chan of Manifold, Art Blocks CEO [Erick Calderon](https://iq.wiki/wiki/erick-calderon), collector and thought-leader Cozomo de’ Medici.  \n  \n# Derivatives  \n  \nSoon after the Nakamigos NFT launch, many unofficial versions started showing up in the web3 space, with no ties to the original creator.  \n  \n## Nakamigos x Opepen Edition  \n  \nThis is the fusion between the Nakamigos and [Opepen Edition NFTs](https://iq.wiki/wiki/opepen-edition-opepen), with a total token supply of 3,299.
